The “El Perezoso” Botanical Garden is Officially Nominated Before the Andean Parliament as an Ecological Stronghold of the Continent

Central Jungle of Peru, March 27, 2025 – In a decisive step toward the recognition and preservation of Latin America’s natural heritage, Andean Parliamentarian Eng. Juan Carlos Ramírez will formally present the nomination of the “El Perezoso” Botanical Garden to the Andean Parliament, seeking its recognition by the member countries: Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.

This initiative follows a rigorous scientific and professional assessment of the garden’s extraordinary biodiversity, establishing it as a unique sanctuary of life and ecological knowledge within the region.

A Living Legacy of Nature:

“This garden not only conserves, educates, and heals—it also inspires. It is a living example of what we can achieve when nature, science, and political will work together,” said Giovanni Gibaja, Director of Órbita.

Through this nomination, it is expected that the Andean Parliament will recognize the “El Perezoso” Botanical Garden as a true ecological stronghold of the continent—a symbol of shared commitment to a greener, more conscious, and resilient Latin America.
